Collinson Rocking Horses

Beautiful new reproductions of the famous "Collinson Rocking Horses" made by J. Collinson and Sons of Liverpool since 1836. Entirely hand crafted rocking horses to the original rocking horse patterns and style by English Craftsmen.

When Queen Victoria visited the "Collinson" workshops in Liverpool in 1851 she was most impressed by a Dapple Grey rocking horse that was at the time a new model.

This rocking horse eventually became the "sire" of all the famous Collinson Dapple Greys that followed throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Our new rocking horses follow that famous bloodline.

A full rocking horse restoration service is available to nurse your much loved treasure back to full health. We can collect your rocking horse and return it in pristine condition to you anywhere in the UK (mainland).

Average lead time is just 6-6 weeks and all rocking horses are made to order. Delivery is £75 to UK mainland for any rocking horse.

We offer two sizes of rocking horse in either painted or natural polished wood finishes.

All our rocking horses come with real horse hair mane and tails, leather saddles and tacks, brass strirrups and fitments.

The sizes and dimensions being of the original J. Collinson and Co specials! With our own embellishments of leather and brass!

Our master carver worked for Jervis and Leonard Collinson who were the last of the family to run J. Collinson and Sons.

This original company eventually ceased trading in the late 1980's and although that was the final chapter it was not the end of the story!

Our painted rocking horses are hand sanded and painted in traditional "Gesso" a mix of fish glues to give a smooth finish.

The horse is then painted in antiqued creme or Old English white base paint which is then hand dappled in the traditional Collinson Signature Style Black Dappling.

The final touch being two coats of antique style French lacquering varnish to seal, protect and give a fine and lustruous shine!

All our Collinson rocking horses are made to customer orders! Lead time is 6-8 weeks.

When you contact us to place your order just call us on and simply let us know the following:

- What size you want - Medium or large

- What finish you want - Polished pine Collinson rocking horse or a painted Collinson rocking horse.

- If you want a painted Collinson horse do you want a black on white or black on antiqued crème finish?

Once we have that info we'll be able to confirm your order and accept payment.
